The Strategic Land Group (SLG) is to bring forward a 9.6-acre site in Morton-on-Swale, an attractive village close to Richmond and Northallerton.
The greenfield site is currently used for agricultural purposes and will be promoted through the North Yorkshire Local Plan. The Plan aims to deliver around 20,000 new homes over a 15-year period, helping to ensure that enough new homes are built to meet demand.
North Yorkshire is a relatively new local authority which was formed in Spring 2023 and merged seven local councils. The authority aims to have its new Plan in place by 2028.
Morton-on-Swale is a charming location surrounded by countryside. Close to the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales, alongside easy access to the A1M motorway, the village is an appealing choice for a range of people at different stages of life, from families to retirees.
Paul Smith, Managing Director of SLG, said: “Morton-on-Swale is an extremely sought-after area so it’s fantastic to be able to bring this site to market. We will now seek to secure planning permission on behalf of the landowner – which we do at our own cost and risk – before securing its sale to a developer who will deliver the new homes.
“The site is ideal for development so it’s positive to be able to support the new North Yorkshire council as it compiles its first Plan, putting the site forward to support its housing targets.”
SLG is one of the UK’s most successful land, care homes and renewable energy promoters. It is currently working with a 19-site portfolio and is actively promoting sites with the potential to deliver more than 2,800 new homes and with a gross development value of circa £900million.
