Recent media coverage about rising housing prices and proposals to reform the planning system has understandably caused those with money to invest to consider how they might be able to benefit.

One option that is often presented to people is buying a small parcel of land on part of a larger site. Although these schemes are sometimes legitimate, they are often scams with the land having little to no chance of securing planning permission for new development.
