The mini-budget on 23 September was the government's attempt to jolt our economy into life.

Much of the focus has been on the tax counts announced by the Chancellor, Kwasi Kwarteng, but the proposals outlined go much further than that.

The accompanying Growth Plan included a whole raft of reforms also aimed at delivering economic growth. Amongst them, of course, was the promise of planning reform.

You would be forgiven for those feelings of déjà vu.

As our managing director, Paul Smith, explains in his latest piece for Hosuing Today, the government has been talking about planning reform for years without actually following through on it, and those delays are starting to cause real damage. It is time for action.
