Amounting to almost 8 acres, this greenfield site on the edge of the popular Cheshire market town of Nantwich is currently used for agricultural purposes. Bounded by roads on two sides and existing homes on the third boundary it is, however, well located for a future residential development.
Cheshire East Council are in the process of preparing a new Local Plan which will guide development in future years. A key consideration for that Plan will be the arrival of HS2 in Crewe - which could happen by the end of the decade - and how the the borough can best take advantage of the opportunities for economic growth that will come with it.
New homes are an important part of that picture, allowing the workforce to grow in response to new jobs that are created - making Crewe and Nantwich important locations for new development, close to where those new jobs are likely to be located.
The Strategic Land Group will be working with the landowners of this site to promote it through the Local Plan with the goal of securing an allocation for new housing development. To support those efforts, we will prepare a range of supporting technical reports covering factors like transport, ecology and drainage, as well as a masterplan showing one way in which the site could be developed. That will help us show the council how the site could help them deliver their development objectives.
Once a development allocation is confirmed in the new Local Plan, a planning application would be submitted before the site was marketed for sale to developers.
