Whilst it is never likely to deliver the number of new homes we need by itself, brownfield land is an important component of the supply of new build homes in the UK.

Although land promoters are more often associated with greenfield sites, The Strategic Land Group is always on the look out for brownfield sites to promote through the planning process too. Our managing director, Paul Smith, spent the first decade of his career at a PLC housebuilder where he delivered a huge number of new homes on previously developed land.

Ahead of his appearance at the Brownfield Redevelopment North Conference in November 2019, Paul spoke to organisers Environment Analyst about securing planning permission on brownfield sites, the effectiveness of Brownfield Land Registers and some common misconceptions about previously developed land.
